A 39-year-old man has admitted today that he attempted to murder two gardaí in Dublin last year.
Daniel Goulding of Whitechapel Grove, Clonsilla, in Dublin pleaded guilty in the Central Criminal Court to two charges of attempted murder in May of last year.
He was remanded in custody for sentencing next month.
Just after 7pm on 25 May last year, gardaí responded to reports of gunshots at Whitechapel Grove in Clonsilla.
Two detectives arrived at the scene and came under fire from a man in an upstairs bedroom at Goulding’s home.
They took cover behind an unmarked patrol car which was struck a number of times.
The detectives were shot in their left legs and one was also shot in his left hand.

A barricade incident developed and after two hours of negotiations, firearms were surrendered from the house and were made safe.
Goulding was arrested and charged with a number of offences.
This morning, he was arraigned on two charges of the attempted murder of two gardaí.
He replied “guilty” after each charge was put to him.
Mr Justice Paul Mc Dermott remanded Goulding in custody and adjourned the case until next month for sentencing and possible victim impact statements.
