There were scenes of joy at Dublin Airport this afternoon, as more than 200 Irish troops returned home following a six month deployment in south Lebanon.
Some of those arriving from the 120th Infantry Battalion had done back-to-back deployments and had not seen their family in over a year.
104 of them were on their first overseas deployment for peacekeeping duties which include patrolling, education and working with the Lebanese community and armed forces.

Among those waiting were nine-year-old Adam Hickey and his sister Erica who made their own signs to welcome back their dad Sergeant Dean Hickey.
He said the families of the Defence Forces were the unsung heroes and he was delighted to be back with his family.
The Irish troops worked with UNIFIL, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon along with troops from Poland, Malta and Hungary.
Commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Denis Hanley said they had faced tough conditions on the ground and had been engaged in health education there following a recent cholera outbreak.
